Spatial Services, a division of the Department of Customer Service is the key provider of spatial land information services in New South Wales.
Spatial Services' integrated framework connects the people of NSW to a comprehensive package of land and property services including property information, surveying and mapping.
Spatial Services' provides land information services to individuals, businesses, government agencies and non-profit organisations throughout NSW, Australia and internationally.
Your day-to-day:
As a Technical Surveyor you will be responsible for the planning, collecting, and processing of survey data which establishes and maintains the state's fundamental survey control network, supports the production of topographic and surface data, imagery and elevation products, the Digital Cadastral Data Base (DCDB) and assists in providing state survey infrastructure for all spatial applications and datasets.
In this role you will:
* Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the state-wide Survey Control Network.
* Undertake surveys to support a wide variety of Spatial Services products/solutions such as POSI, imagery and elevation, DCDB, and topographic and surface data products.
* Supervise small survey field parties to ensure efficient and safe collection of survey data
* Calibrate, adjust and maintain survey equipment to enable the team to collect accurate survey data.
* Maintain a sound knowledge of survey instruments and equipment, including GNSS satellite positioning receivers, Total Stations and Electronic Levels to produce high quality and accurate surveying results.
* Provide reports on the determined level of accuracy attained during surveys and upon completion of those projects.
* Comply with Work Health and Safety policy and practices and contribute to the identification and control of occupational health and safety risks and/or hazards in the workplace.
* Continuously conduct risk assessments of work sites, to ensure that staff are using correct safety equipment and modify work methods as required.
In this role you will require:
* Tertiary qualifications in surveying or an equivalent qualification
* Current driver's license and ability and willingness to travel throughout the state when required
