The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Trades Assistant to support our operations at our facility in Darwin, NT. Some of your duties will include:
* Prestart checks for workshop plant and equipment including forklifts, cranes and vehicles.
* Operation of hand tools, power tools, lifting and access equipment.
* Assist trades employees with preventative maintenance, service, production and upgrades to mineral processing and bulk materials handling equipment.
* Assist with machine loading / unloading activities.
* Stores activities for the branch as required, inclusive of participating in stocktake processes, picking and dispatch of customer orders.
* Proactively perform non-trade specific tasks incidental to set work.
* Prepare and maintain work areas in a safe and clean manner.
What we're looking for
We are looking for a self-starter with an excellent attitude. Our ideal candidate will be safety focused, have the drive and passion to learn our business and be a part of our team. You will have some previous work experience as a Trades Assistant.
To be successful for this role you will need to have the following:
* Full unrestricted 'C' Class Driver's License – HR desirable
* Previous experience working in a workshop environment.
* Experience with metal working equipment
* Current forklift licence
* Be physically able to perform manual handling tasks – lifting up to 25kg
* Pro-active and self-motivated
* Have a strong personal belief in the importance of safety.
* Must be able to pass a Pre-employment Medical and Drug and Alcohol screen
