The role
About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter with a strong work ethic to join us on a permanent full‐time basis covering rotating weekly shifts. You will help keep our saw milling operation running at its best.
Reporting into the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for both preventative and corrective maintenance of site plant and equipment to a high standard, ensuring maximum production levels are sustained.
We are looking for a candidate who is available for a rotating roster in a permanent full‐time position.
We offer a competitive hourly rate, with additional rates based on loading and paid overtime opportunities as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the maintenance team to maintain production levels by ensuring fixed plant equipment functions correctly, aiming for zero production downtime.
- Perform fault finding, repairs and services of various fixed plant machinery including the treatment plant and timber transfer belts and decks.
- Use sound judgement when making maintenance decisions, with due regard to employee health and safety.
- Minimise breakdown time – execute quick fixes to maintain production and conduct thorough repairs between shifts.
- Use MEX maintenance software to assist with daily operations.
- Participate in minor and major shutdowns and improvement projects.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Substantial experience as a maintenance fitter in a production or manufacturing environment.
- A qualification in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or a relevant field.
- Ability to identify technical issues and recommend improvements, and assist with rectification.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety issues and a strong commitment to employee safety.
- Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics highly regarded.
- Relevant tickets (working at heights, confined spaces, forklift licence) desirable.
- Strong communication skills with fitters, supervisors, managers and stakeholders.
- Self‐motivated, able to work independently and in a team, with drive and commitment to high standards.
- Willingness to adapt to changes for continuous improvement.
