What You'll Be Doing
The Brighter Beginnings initiative is a collaboration between NSW Health and NSW Department of Education to implement preschool health and development checks. The Speech Pathologist will deliver screening, assessment, provision of recommendations and interventions, to children in the Early Education setting. Training of Early Educators will be an integral part of the role.
The Speech Pathologist will provide high quality comprehensive speech pathology services to the patients, clients and carers of the Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD), to promote optimal health outcomes. The senior Speech Pathologist is also responsible for assisting the Brighter Beginnings Project Lead to supervise staff, and students and assist with operational and professional matters, and to maintain a positive workplace culture.
Selection Criteria
Tertiary degree in speech pathology (or equivalent) with eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including collaborative stakeholder consultation, and proven ability in liaising with multi agencies and building capacity across different providers.Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills, time management and computer literacy, and ability to analyse and interpret evidence-based practice.Demonstrated, recent and relevant experience in management of complex paediatric clinical practice, including case management in the community.Demonstrated experience supervising staff and/or students.Proven experience in the delivery and evaluation of education sessions to a variety of staff groups.Demonstrated experience participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process and evidence-based practice.Current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires, which may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.

The selection criteria reflect the requirements for a level 3 applicant. Responses from level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with their years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for level 3.
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015 All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
