About the role
The Buyer – Arts & Crafts is responsible for sourcing, curating, and managing the online product assortment for Riot Art & Craft.
The role will ensure that the brand leads in product innovation, value, and compliance across all categories.
The Buyer will play a central role in the ongoing relaunch and growth of Riot Art & Craft, working collaboratively with suppliers and multiple internal teams to deliver profitable sales outcomes, compelling range assortments, and world-class product presentation online.
Meet your new team
Our Buying and eCommerce team plays a pivotal role in curating, sourcing, and managing the entire product assortment for Riot Arts & Craft.
This team drives online sales and profitability by selecting the right products, negotiating with key suppliers, and ensuring that the Riot Art & Craft brand continues to stand for creativity, inspiration, and quality.
Working closely with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations, the team ensures that the right arts & craft products are available at the right time, at the right price, across riot.com.au and marketplace channels.
How you will make an impact
Identify, source, and onboard new products and suppliers that align with business objectives and customer demand for Riot Art & Craft and also the Toys "R" Us, Hobby Warehouse, and Babies "R" Us business units.
Negotiate supplier terms, pricing, and contracts to ensure competitive cost structures and healthy margins.
Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for new product introductions.
Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries, stock availability, and quality compliance.
Develop and execute category strategies tailored for eCommerce and marketplace platforms, focusing on sales growth and profitability.
Manage product lifecycle, including SKU rationalization, assortment planning, and promotional strategies.
Optimise product listings by ensuring accurate descriptions, high-quality images, and SEO driven content to improve visibility and conversions.
Produce category reports and dashboards for leadership review.
Provide input into forecasting and inventory planning based on market trends and historical data.
The successful candidate
Our ideal candidate for the Buyer – Arts and Crafts role will confidently demonstrate:
Proven experience as a Buyer or Category Manager within an arts & crafts category-based eCommerce or marketplace-focused business.
Experience sourcing white label ranges from international manufacturers.
Established network of Australian and International arts & crafts suppliers and manufacturers.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and customer insights.
Strong financial literacy (GM%, rebate structures, sell-through).
Experience with marketplace and eCommerce platforms such as Amazon, eBay, Shopify.
Working knowledge of Australian arts & crafts compliance and certification processes.
Being an exceptional team player, sound analytical, planning and communication skills.
