**National Seed Bank Leadership Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our conservation and research programs. As a key member of the Science team, you will oversee the operation of the National Seed Bank, manage a team of specialists, students, and volunteers, and coordinate research projects with internal and external partners.
The National Seed Bank is a unique collection of seeds and other germplasm of native plant species from across Australia. Our team works collaboratively on research projects, sourcing, collecting, and storing wild seeds, and conducting research on seed germination requirements, dormancy, longevity in storage, and reproductive ecology.
As a leader in this role, you will be responsible for:
* Directing conservation and research programs and resources
* Overseeing a team of trained specialists, students, and skilled volunteers
* Coordinating ongoing curation of the seed collection and operations of a national facility
You will work closely with internal and external partners, including researchers, conservationists, and Indigenous communities, to achieve outcomes for conservation and community.
Key responsibilities include managing a diverse team, coordinating research initiatives, and ensuring the effective operation of the National Seed Bank. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of conservation and research practices.
