About the role
Seeking an enthusiastic 2nd 3rd or 4th year apprentice chef to join the talented culinary team at The Brown Bear, a Breakfast Cafe located in Devonport, Tasmania. Suitably skilled Casual Cooks will also be considered for this role. As an apprentice chef, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow under the guidance of our experienced culinary professionals, developing your skills in a fast-paced and innovative kitchen environment.
What you'll be doing
1. Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes, ensuring adherence to established recipes and presentation standards
2. Learn and apply fundamental cooking techniques, such as sautéing, grilling, and baking
3. Maintain a clean and organised workstation, following strict food safety and hygiene protocols
4. Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and enhance existing dishes
5. Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to expand your culinary knowledge and skills
What we're looking for
1. A passion for food and a keen interest in the culinary arts
2. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
3. Excellent communication and teamwork skills
4. A willingness to learn and a drive to continuously improve
5. Relevant experience in a hospitality or food service setting is preferred, but not essential
