What you'll be doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) provides expert advice and acts as a leader in healthcare. The CNC demonstrates the effective use of evidence-based practice, contemporary theories of practice, and clinical coaching to foster a learning environment. They facilitate clinical / professional development of nurses utilising a recovery orientated practice framework in the Mental Health Intensive Care Unit (MHICU).

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
- A registered nurse who has a minimum of 5 years full time post graduate experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in mental health nursing. In addition the applicant must have an approved post graduate qualification relevant to the speciality and hold a Masters (pertaining to speciality field) or is willing to enrol and commence a Masters in the relevant speciality field within two years of the appointment.
- Demonstrated advanced computer, Internet and information technology skills, and holds a current NSW Driver's Licence.
- Demonstrated expert level clinical expertise and leadership in management of people with complex mental health issues and psychiatric disorders and associated behaviours.
- Evidence of knowledge and application of contemporary theories and techniques of practice that underlie mental health care and management of challenging behaviours.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead evidence-based nursing clinical practice development and a commitment to the concept of continuous quality improvement programs.
- Demonstrated ability in the development and delivery of education programs, within a coaching framework.
- Demonstrated ability to network and communicate with a range of internal and external key partners.
