Ipswich High School is a vibrant day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 3-18, set in an idyllic 87‐acre campus in Woolverstone on the banks of the River Orwell, just four miles outside Ipswich. Role Description

We are looking to appoint enthusiastic, energetic, motivated and committed Resident Graduate Sports Assistants to join our thriving Sports Department for the 2026–2027 academic year. Applications from candidates with strengths in rugby, football, cricket, hockey and netball are particularly encouraged.
This role offers a valuable experience for graduates keen to gain practical, hands‐on experience within a leading co‐educational boarding school, while developing the skills, confidence and professional insight to support future careers in teaching, coaching or the wider field of sports.
As a Resident Graduate Sports Assistant, you will be fully involved in school life: supporting in lessons, coaching sport and contributing to the enrichment (co‐curricular) programme. You will work closely with experienced colleagues, learn from skilled practitioners, and benefit from a structured induction alongside ongoing professional development.
This one‐year residential post provides a broad and rewarding experience with opportunities to support learning in the classroom, engage closely with pupils, develop pastoral skills, and contribute to the School's extensive programme of activities.
As our Resident Graduate Sports Assistants, responsibilities will include:
* Assisting in the coaching of sports in both the Senior and Prep Schools
* Leading and supporting co‐curricular sports teams, including weekday training and weekend fixtures
* Be available to coach/referee during games afternoons, after school clubs and occasionally weekends
* Assisting with trips, tournaments, and whole‐school sporting events
* Organise pre‐game kit and equipment and post‐game laundering of team kits
* Acting as a positive role model for pupils and promoting the highest standards of sportsmanship, behaviour and commitment
You will play an active role in the day to day running of the boarding house, residing in staff accommodation within the house. You will be expected to take a genuine interest in the care and development of each individual boarder. The role includes working either a Saturday or Sunday each week to support activities and trips designed to enrich our boarders' experience of British culture, with at least one protected day off each week.
