Chandler Macleod is partnering with a large public sector organisation to recruit an experienced Safety Business Partner for a 3-month parental leave contract. This senior OHS role is ideal for a safety professional who thrives on influencing leaders, driving compliance, and embedding a strong safety culture.
About the Role
Reporting into a senior People & Safety function, you will provide expert OHS advice and partner closely with leaders across the organisation. You'll play a key role in strengthening safety systems, managing risk, and coaching leaders to integrate safety into everyday operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert advice on OHS legislation, policies and safety management systems
* Partner with leaders to drive safety strategy, metrics and performance outcomes
* Lead workplace incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions
* Conduct safety audits, inspections, risk and psychosocial assessments
* Design and deliver safety training, awareness and wellbeing initiatives
* Monitor compliance with Victorian OHS legislation and standards
* Engage with regulators, service providers and key stakeholders
Skills & Experience
* Degree or Advanced Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline
* 5–7+ years' experience in a senior OHS or Safety Business Partner role
* Strong knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation and compliance frameworks
* Proven experience influencing leaders and driving cultural change
* Solid incident investigation and risk management capability
* Local government experience highly regarded
Requirements
* Victorian Driver's Licence
* Ability to obtain a Police Check and Working with Children Check
