Data Analyst
We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Data Analysts to join a fast-paced team delivering a critical, multi-year IT project. If you thrive on complex data modeling, finding actionable insights, and translating them into strategic business outcomes, this is the role for you.
Contract length: 12 months +
Location: Hobart
Hourly rate: Band 5-7 depending on the experience
Key Responsibilities
- Work with IT teams to identify, extract, and profile data from source systems, ensuring data quality, consistency, and governance for the new platform.
- Design, document, and manage logical and physical data models necessary to support the new system's requirements and reporting needs.
- Use tools like SQL, Python/R, and BI platforms to perform complex analysis, identify trends, and generate actionable insights for business stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain reporting dashboards and data visualisations to track project key performance indicators and measure business value realisation post-implementation.
- Translate complex reporting and analytical business needs from stakeholders into technical data requirements.
- Prepare for and facilitate discussions with business leaders to present data findings, influence decision-making, and advocate for data-driven project outcomes.
- Follow Agile methodology by collaborating with the development team to ensure data structures are correctly implemented to support the required functionality and reporting.
About You
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, or Data-focused BA on complex, large-scale IT projects.
- Expertise in SQL for complex querying and data manipulation.
- Proven ability to design and document data models.
- Demonstrated experience with data visualisation tools and creating dynamic, insightful dashboards.
- Conceptual thinking and ability to rapidly understand complex data domains and their relationship to business processes.
