We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Solicitor to join our team in Care & Protection/Family Law.
Job Description
This is a unique opportunity for a talented individual to make a positive impact in the community by delivering expert, culturally safe legal support to empower First Nations communities.
* Provide high-quality legal services in Care & Protection/Family Law matters, including advice, casework, court representation, and early intervention.
* Deliver culturally safe support to Aboriginal clients, including referrals, dispute resolution, and Duty Solicitor services.
* Ensure compliance with policies, complete administrative and case management tasks, and maintain accurate records using ALS systems.
* Contribute to law reform, policy development, and internal procedure reviews relevant to Care & Protection and Family Law.
* Engage in community legal education, outreach clinics, and professional development to maintain legal knowledge and accreditation.
The successful candidate will be an integral and valued member of a highly skilled and high-performing Care & Protection/Family Law Practice.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will require:
* A strong understanding of the cultural, social, and historical needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
* Legal qualifications with an NSW Practising Certificate (or eligibility), and advocacy experience representing clients in court or tribunals.
* Knowledge of Care & Protection and Family Law, with a willingness to develop expertise across other practice areas.
* A proven understanding of the legal issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with a culturally safe and respectful approach to service delivery.
* Strong time management, research, and analytical skills with the ability to manage a high-volume, diverse workload independently.
