As South Australia's leading lifestyle news website, we are growing our dynamic team of writers to share the best South Australian news with our ever‑growing online community. With a strong focus on what's on, the hospitality industry, major events, and what's new, we're looking for someone who loves Adelaide & SA and wants to contribute to our promotion of our sensational state This is a lifestyle, not a job.
As part of the in‑house editorial and content creation team, our journalists work with a larger editorial team to deliver lifestyle news articles in a quick‑paced news manner, while also developing and producing concepts and ideas suitable for social media content.
The role requires some out‑of‑hours news reporting, including breaking news, and event attendance, which will be shared amongst the editorial team. The wide range of events we attend means this isn't just a standard desk job You'll also need to be comfortable driving regionally.
This position reports under the Editor‑in‑Chief.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Strong editorial writing skills required, including high accuracy with spelling, punctuation and grammar.
* Write news and feature stories for Glam Adelaide in line with our brand and tone.
* Gather and analyse information about newsworthy events and editorial opportunities.
* Evaluate news leads and news tips to develop story ideas.
* Update article archives, edit and/or assist in editing and proofreading.
* Manage admin associated with content generated.
* Work with and manage clients professionally across a range of content.
* Monitor article engagement and edit to improve traffic.
* Assist in growing Glam Adelaide website traffic and engagement via social media.
* Assist in managing client & content relationships.
* Attend staff meetings.
* Attend events on behalf of Glam Adelaide, both during and after hours, to represent our company or to cover for news.
* Seek out South Australian experiences, outside of the office, to gain first‑hand knowledge and write about.
* Stay on breaking news, outside of hours, for publication or communication with Glam team.
* Assist in social media management.
* Keep abreast of industry innovation and digital activities to drive new ideas into the business.
* Photography to accompany stories – ideal but not required.
* Host podcasts and/or video interviews with local, interstate and overseas identities for content to publish on the website and/or social media channels – ideal but not required.
* Become proficient in using the company CRM system and WordPress.
* Local and occasional regional travel required.
* Weekend and morning shifts shared amongst the editorial team.
* Write articles quickly and efficiently, with strong spelling and grammar skills.
