The Technical Writer will work as part of a project team to produce high-quality technical documentation that contributes to the overall success of the project.
You will join a talented, multi-disciplinary technical team undertaking comprehensive design and build of a complex IT build project for a Defence client.
In particular, the technical writer will work closely with our design and solution architects and business analyst in capturing requirements and document these in a suite of design documents aligned to the Defence Technical Assurance Framework.
Role Responsibilities
- Producing high-quality documentation that is appropriate for its intended audience
- Development of technical documentation aligned to the Defence Technical Assurance Framework
- Working with internal teams on product and documentation requirements
- Participate in discovery and validation workshops, capturing outcomes and requirements that will support the development of technical and architectural documentation
- Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
- Analyse documents to maintain continuity of style of content
- Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
Essential Experience
- 2+ years' experience in a technical writing role
- Working within the Defence Technical Assurance Framework and experience drafting the associated documentation
- Experience working in Software/capability development projects
- Experience in Government secure environments
- NV1 security clearance
Desirable Experience
- Working within a web-based document system, e.g. Confluence with content that is meta data driven.
- Working in Agile teams
- Working in a project environment - below the line
Desirable Qualities
- Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
- Excellent written skills in English
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Able to build strong rapport with team members and genuinely care about their success
- Qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred
