Diabetes Clinical Nurse Specialist
The North West Diabetes Centre delivers comprehensive care and manages type 1 and complex type 2 diabetes in adults, adolescents, and children through multidisciplinary services across the North West region of Tasmania.
The centre provides education and professional development to healthcare professionals and educators on diabetes management. The team consists of an endocrinologist, nurse practitioners, nurse managers, credentialled diabetes educators, nursing staff, and allied health professionals including dietitians, podiatrists, and psychologists.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, provide, and evaluate diabetes clinical/community nursing care that ensures optimal patient/client and community outcomes within a defined scope of practice.
* Improve clinical service outcomes through effective research and quality improvement activities.
* Participate in research, publication, and education in the specialty of diabetes at a statewide and national level.
* Lead, advise, and mentor senior nurses practicing in the field of diabetes.
Requirements:
1. Endorsement to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Australia.
2. Advanced competence in evidence-based nursing practice in diabetes with awareness and understanding of internal and external service needs.
