Gate Removal Specialist
Mission: To expertly disconnect gating systems from castings using precision equipment and techniques to minimize rework and optimize manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Remove gating system metals from castings with high accuracy, adhering to strict tolerances and dimensional requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Verify correct part numbers and serialization; inspect Technique Cards.
2. Operate air carbon arc torch in burnout booth to carefully separate gating systems from parts without damaging the castings.
3. Clean shell material from around gatings using pneumatic tools.
4. Prepare protective coatings for castings.
5. Inspect and document test bars for proper identification and routing.
6. Sort gating by metal alloy for reverse processing.
7. Remove gating and test bars using abrasive saws.
8. Section cut castings and gatings for evaluation by engineering as needed.
Collaboration and Documentation:
1. Participate in training assessments of new operators and provide guidance to achieve tech card standards.
2. Communicate effectively with grinders and other team members, accept feedback, and document work activities when necessary.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with air carbon arc torch or welding equipment, along with 3-6 months of experience in Cleaning Operations. Strong communication skills and basic mathematical calculations are also essential for this role.
