About The Role 
We currently have multiple vacancies ready to fill. Commencing as a Labourer is only the beginning and can lead to career progression into other roles. Within the Parks and Open Space area we have Gardeners, Irrigation Workers, Plant Operators, Grave Diggers, Handyman and Parks Groundsmen. You can also work your way to Crew Leader. The Parks and Open Space Team provides delivery of maintenance activities related to Townsville's existing public infrastructure within parks, open spaces, including cemeteries. These areas provide a range of services including recreational and cultural activities for residents and visitors across the Townsville Region. 
Responsibilities 
- Perform a range of maintenance and functional activities including mowing, laying turf, planting, whipper snipping, gardening, weeding, mulching, hedging, poisoning, tree trimming and basic irrigation. 
- Drive manual light trucks, including loading, unloading and tying down loads. 
- Be physically fit to perform the variety of outdoor work in hot environments. 
- Contribute to a safe, high-quality parks and open spaces environment and strong working culture. 
- Participate in training and progression opportunities within the team. 
About You 
To be eligible to apply you must have a Manual "C" class licence and a Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD). 
Desirable Skills and Tickets (not required but preferred): 
- MR class licence 
- Chainsaw Ticket (Level 2) 
- Agricultural Chemical Distribution Certificate (ACDC) and Plant Operators Certificates of Competency for relevant plant 
- Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) 
- First Aid Certificate 
- Certificate II in Arboriculture and/or Certificate II in Horticulture 
- Secure Working Near Live Exposed Parts Certificate
