Overview
Queensland Museum is seeking a confident Retail Team Leader to guide part-time and casual Retail Assistants across the Queensland Museum Kurilpa stores. This role requires strong people-management skills to uphold high standards of presentation, service and performance. You'll delegate tasks, support rostering, train staff, resolve customer queries, and help drive sales. A clear, professional communicator, you'll maintain strong connections with the Retail Coordinator and management. Hands-on and organised, you'll oversee daily operations, stock, reconciliations, online orders, WHS compliance and improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise Retail Assistants across all QMK stores to ensure exceptional customer service and presentation standards.
* Organise work priorities, including delegation and follow-up of daily tasks as directed by the Retail Coordinator.
* Assist with roster management when required.
* Identify training needs and deliver or coordinate training to build staff capability.
* Support operational improvement initiatives, including developing and implementing procedures to enhance efficiency.
* Resolve customer queries promptly and professionally.
* Meet required sales targets and contribute to a positive, high-performing team culture.
* Complete start- and end-of-day procedures, including reconciliations and reporting.
* Assist with stocktakes and inventory accuracy.
* Perform Retail Assistant duties as required, including cash handling, random audits, provision of change and balancing daily reconciliations.
* Identify and report building, merchandise, signage, IT or register faults to the appropriate QM staff member.
* Process online shop orders and support maintenance of online store content under the direction of the Retail Coordinator.
* Ensure Museum Shops are optimally presented and maintained to a high standard.
* Undertake operational duties such as receipting and unloading stock, visual merchandising, cleaning and restocking.
* Make recommendations regarding stock replenishment and product needs.
* Assist with the setup and de-installation of in-store events and satellite exhibition shops.
* Comply with all Queensland Museum policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
* Contribute to a strong safety culture by reporting incidents and hazards and ensuring all work is undertaken safely and in accordance with QM WHS policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Perform other suitable duties consistent with the role, as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.

A minimum of two years' retail management experience, demonstrating strong leadership capability.
