Senior SCADA Systems Engineer – HV Renewables & Utilities
A newly created senior role has opened up with a specialist systems integration team delivering some of Australia’s most technically challenging utility-scale renewable energy and power infrastructure projects.
This position suits someone who wants more than just design work someone ready to lead SCADA and integration scopes from concept through commissioning, across transmission, distribution, and generation assets.
The Chance
You’ll be responsible for the full technical lifecycle of SCADA, software, and systems integration delivery. That means designing and configuring SCADA systems, programming and testing control solutions, setting up networking and virtual environments, and seeing your work through to site commissioning.
You’ll also play a key leadership role within the team, mentoring junior engineers, interfacing with clients, and helping shape delivery frameworks across multiple concurrent projects.
Required Experience & Skills
Technical
- Advanced knowledge of HV SCADA systems and control architectures
- Solid experience across transmission or distribution network infrastructure
- Strong understanding of HV protection systems and schemes
- Programming and scripting experience (Python, IEC61131-3, or similar)
- SCADA configuration using platforms such as Citect, Ignition, Zenon, or similar
- SQL/database integration and historian systems
- Hands-on experience with networking, routing, and cyber security principles
- Proficiency with virtual environments (e.g. VMware ESXi)
- Familiarity with telecommunications systems (radio, fibre, 4G/LTE, etc.)
- CAD and schematic drafting review skills
Professional
- Ability to lead or mentor other engineers on technical delivery
- Strong attention to detail, with a disciplined approach to documentation and QA
- Comfortable managing stakeholders and coordinating across multi-disciplinary teams
- Can operate independently, but still thrives in a team environment
