Introduction
ACEREZ is a consortium, comprised of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy which has been appointed Preferred Network Operator by EnergyCo to design, deliver, operate and maintain the transmission line network for the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWO REZ). The new transmission infrastructure, which will combine high‐capacity transmission lines, energy hubs and related infrastructure, will enable generators such as solar and wind farms and energy storage providers in the CWO REZ to connect to the electricity grid, providing a reliable supply of clean, affordable electricity for households and businesses across NSW while helping to meet the state's newly legislated Net Zero targets.
Opportunity
The Operations Planning Engineer will be responsible for optimising production processes and modelling future issues to ensure resource efficiency. This will also involve ensuring operational technical documentation is complete and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
* Network Modelling: Competent in the use of system models to predict network behaviour, and use, develop and maintain online study tools (EMS)
* Network Standards: Manage operating procedures, and calculate equipment ratings, equipment settings, and limit advice
* Policy and Procedures: Update and improve operating procedures and compile documents using appropriate consultation
* NOPR Outcomes: Monitor network performance against NOPR requirements and provide regular and ad‐hoc reports as required
* System Stability: Produce system stability models and investigate unanticipated system harmonic behaviour. Calculate system strength and inertia requirements, as well as determine voltage stability requirements (MVAr reserves)
* Coordination with AEMO, Transgrid and Generators: Ensure that generator connections are designed and operated within the capability of the ACEREZ network, and assess and coordinate transmission outage plans and generator requests, ensuring compliance with AEMO NOS requirements
Skills & Knowledge
* Sound knowledge of ACEREZ's responsibilities under the NER
* Sound knowledge of network modelling
* Good understanding of the operation of primary and secondary transmission network equipment (pertinent to the ACEREZ network)
* Knowledge of transmission system security, HV apparatus, protection & control
* Knowledge of power system equipment, protection & control systems
* Good understanding of the technical aspects of the operation of both synchronous and asynchronous generation

Qualifications And Experience
* Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (or closely related subject)
* Chartered status / associate membership of a professional engineering body
* Superior verbal and written communication skills
* Experience of real‐time power system modelling (including EMS network modelling)
* 5 - 15 years industry experience
