Rare Estimating Manager Opportunity (Succession Plan)

You'll work under one of the most experienced estimating managers in the SA industry. Who will teach, mentor, and hand over his estimating manager position to you over the next two years.

Giving you 30+ years of knowledge, experience, and tricks of the trade before he hangs up his boots and retires in late 2027.

From day one, you'd be part of the senior management team, working with the managing director, construction manager, and commercial manager on everything with your estimating manager.

What you get long-term

A place where you can tender on various projects throughout the years to evolve, enjoy, and experience different ways to become the best estimator without the impossible ratios and unachievable targets.

A place to hang your hat where everyone knows your name and values your experience without the more prominent builders' gossip, bureaucracy, and politics.

A place that's easy-going, calm, and relaxed month in and month out, so you can settle in and learn the company's ways without worrying about the future, as you've got a career there, not a job.

A place where you'll get paid above the market rate if you're the right fit, personally and professionally, because they know who they are looking for is rare. Someone looking for a home, not a position.

What they're looking for

You're a senior estimator or newly established estimating manager who's been in the game long enough to realise what you want from a business and what you don't. You know that the next company you work for needs to have the following:

A linear management structure where you can talk to the managing director, construction manager, and commercial manager as friends, not just colleagues. This is how they run their business: they treat everyone as a business partner, not as a stale team member.

You want old-school values for your company and the customers you serve, knowing they won't budge on anything. The product quality of the build is priority one above profit and deadlines.

You like to laugh and smile whilst working and don't take yourself too seriously; we are all human and want quality of life and success. You're not too precious and wish to socialise while working and growing.

What they're hoping for

Someone who knows tendering on construction from all sorts of backgrounds and hasn't partially specialised in one niche but loves all types of different projects. This means you've tendered and won on various projects from dozens of scopes.

Someone who's been an estimator for at least eight years and knows the intricacies of the position so that you can communicate easily with your EM, who you'd have as your direct report until you take his position.

Someone who likes tendering in projects between $5M to $15M, mostly, but in the future, $20M+ projects will be part of the business's growth plan.

What you get in return

A top multi-award-winning family builder who prioritises transparency, flexibility, strong communication, coupled with old-school values and a linear management structure.

They specialise in construction, fit-out, and refurbishment projects between $5M and $15M; almost half of the work comes from repeat clients.

As a turn‐key Tier 3 builder covering every aspect of the construction landscape within our great state, customers know they are building with us, not for us. This is an important distinction.

Whether commercial, industrial, hospitality, residential, health care, aged care, or even recreation, this company treats every project with the utmost care and attention.

With a broad range of delivery methods, including lump‐sum, design‐and‐construction, budgeting and feasibility, and head contracting, this company does it all efficiently and without constraint.

The doors of the managing director, construction manager, and commercial manager are always open, as they see you as an equal member of the team, not a direct report to be micromanaged or preyed upon with too much work and not enough time to do it.

Which, of course, your estimating manager won't give you, but will mentor you to be the leader of the estimating department.

What you get from me

Someone who has been consulting, recruiting, and headhunting talent in construction for 15 years without deviating into any other sector.

Someone who has won SA Recruiter of the Year consecutively for three years, doing what I do best. Finding the right person for the right job. Simple.

Someone who loves to chat about your past, present, and future career, and learn how I can help you get the most out of your next position.

Someone who will keep our conversations, dealings, and application confidential so you always feel comfortable and safe working with me repeatedly.

So, if the above senior estimator/estimating manager role suits you and you'd like to explore the possibility further, please apply, book a chat, or call me today.
