Position Overview:
A strategic leadership position, the role is split between client-facing and technical delivery. It requires excellent communication skills along with the technical capabilities to work collaboratively with business and HNW clients that form part of this team’s client base. This is an ideal opportunity for a proactive, enthusiastic professional with a desire to expand their knowledge in multiple areas of accounting, tax, and SMSFs, at a firm with varied clients with complex needs in the business and HNW space.
You will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing client-facing responsibilities for the team unit. You will be responsible for providing high-quality accounting and tax services to clients, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and delivering high-quality advice. The successful candidate will demonstrate technical expertise in accounting and tax, with a client-focused approach.
About the role:
The work you will be involved with at the firm is varied with clients' needs ranging across business and HNW and private client services. The role will support existing along with new clients that are being referred to you from other areas of the business. As a Senior Manager, you will lead a highly engaged accounting team and will:
1. Liaise with a portfolio of clients focusing on business services, HNW private tax, and SMSF.
2. Provide excellent client-facing service and advice, leveraging off your technical capabilities to build trust and strong relationships with your clients.
3. Understand the vision and goals of each client and provide advice and service to assist the client to achieve such goals.
4. Provide tailored advice across varied and complex accounting issues, financial analysis, tax legislation, and broader client strategies.
5. Produce expert and complex accounting advice with an emphasis on cost-effectiveness and be able to communicate key issues directly to the client.
6. Be an approachable manager and motivate members of your team with an approach that builds trust and inspires top performance.
7. Create opportunities that increase business in the Accounting Unit and be able to spot other new business opportunities and cross referrals to other operations within the firm.
8. Prepare financial statements, tax returns, and other compliance documents, including overseeing junior staff in relation to the same.
9. Prioritise workflows while keeping all clients informed on timelines for delivery.
10. You will be expected to be a voice in projects to better both your team and the business through the development of our systems and processes and overall strategies of the firm.
11. Collaborate with clients and advisors (legal, finance, insurance, and investment) to create custom solutions.
About You:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in public accounting or a similar role, with a focus on business services, personal tax, and SMSF.
Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, and financial reporting.
Proven experience in managing and leading a team, fostering a positive work environment.
Ability to analyse complex financial information and provide strategic advice to clients.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of local and national tax regulations.
Showcase a proven track record of successfully implementing tax strategies.
Exhibit exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
Be capable of presenting complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
