Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

What You'll Do
This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities include:
System Safety Program Delivery: Plan, deliver, and manage system safety engineering services ensuring compliance and balanced project outcomes.
Lifecycle Safety Management: Coordinate, direct, and evaluate system safety activities across the Capability Life Cycle.
Safety Analysis & Verification: Conduct system safety analysis, development, and Verification & Validation to support assurance programs.
Expert Guidance & Reviews: Provide advice on safety engineering techniques, processes, software assurance, and review contract deliverables.
Safety Artefacts & Documentation: Produce specifications, hazard analyses, certification, V&V plans, design documents, and specialist engineering reports.
What You'll Bring
Qualified Personnel: Tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry/domain experience with practical System Safety Program expertise.
Best Practice Safety Programs: Development of safety management plans incorporating recognised engineering and management principles in acquisition/sustainment.
Defense Standards & Compliance: Experience with contemporary Defence safety standards (CASG sustainment) aligned to Australian/International regulations.
CASG Responsibilities: Evaluate technical/design packages, follow strategic safety direction, and exercise Technical Authority delegations.
Professional Engineering Credentials: Four-year engineering degree (Washington Accord recognised) plus Chartered Professional Engineer (or equivalent).
Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimumNegative Vetting 1or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance withInternational Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
