Learning and Capability Consultant - Family Violence Use your expertise in MARAM training and practice to develop and deliver engaging, trauma informed MARAMIS training to prescribed internal DJCS staff and staff in DJCS-funded agencies Provide authoritative family violence practice advice to inform training content, policies, and broader workforce development strategies VPS 5.1 position: $113,022 to $124,884 on a fixed-term contract to 30 June 2027. About the Business Unit: The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a trusted justice and community safety system that works to build a just, safe and resilient Victoria. The department has ongoing obligations under the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 (Act)to align to the MARAM Framework, implement the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme and Child Information Sharing Scheme, and is committed to providing best practice in family violence prevention, identification and response. People, Safety and Culture (PSC) lead the department's strategic people functions and ensure our workforce has the right skills and capabilities, culture and working environment to achieve its strategic priorities. The MARAM Family Violence Learning and Capability team sits within the Learning and Capability function of PSC. It builds the workforce capabilities of the department and prescribed funded agencies to identify and respond to family violence by developing and delivering customised MARAM training, that is trauma informed and addresses the specific context of the workforce and applicable reforms. About the Role: You will bring passion, dedication, and specialist family violence skills to your work as a Consultant in the Family Violence Learning and Capability team. This will enable you to drive family violence capability uplift aligned to the MARAM Framework. You will hold a senior position and work alongside VPS 4 and VPS 5 colleagues in the team, as well as building strategic partnerships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will report to the team manager and be involved in developing and delivering MARAM family violence training at the Foundational, Identification and Intermediate level. This will include Victim Survivor and Adult Using Family Violence packages. Expert facilitation skills and a strong understanding of the MARAM framework are required. You will use this to also develop engaging, practice-focused learning resources that support retention of key concepts and promote sustained practice change following training delivery. Some of your duties will include: Driving a departmental culture of MARAM learning and capability uplift through delivering a substantial volume of training both in person and remotely Contributing to practice guidance, tools, and resources that are tailored to the operational contexts of DJCS workforces and DJCS funded agencies. You will use your highly developed understanding of family violence dynamics and apply a trauma informed lens Providing FV SME consultation with the department's Employee and Workplace Relations area in PSC, to support employees of DJCS who are affected by family violence Embedding evaluation and feedback mechanisms into training delivery, to ensure this evidence guides continuous improvement of materials to meet business needs Supporting strategic leadership activities in the team and the Learning and Capability function of PSC more broadly, including through anticipating risks to training delivery, developing solutions, and leading strategic communication activities. About You: As our ideal candidate, you will possess: Demonstrated substantial experience in delivering engaging and adult-focused training sessions on complex subjects In-depth operational knowledge and understanding of the MARAM Framework including intersectional practice principles, a demonstrated ability deliver practical, skills-based training that supports learner development and sustained capability uplift Highly-developed understanding of family violence dynamics, with direct experience working with victim survivors and/or perpetrators, and a strong knowledge of best practice responses across justice and community settings Proven experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, to review, enhance, and co-develop training materials and resources that reflect current policy, practice reforms, and evolving needs of diverse learner groups. Qualifications/Requirements: A relevant tertiary qualification is required: social work, criminology, psychology, or a related discipline. Significant professional experience may be considered in lieu of this. A Certificate IV in work-place training and assessment is highly desirable.
