Primary objective
Supports and provides collaborative, appropriate, proficient, coordinated direct and indirect clinical care for complex client presentations, including working with and alongside less experienced nursing and midwifery staff, within the specialty area.
Context statement
Provide comprehensive maternity care for women and families living in the Tennant Creek region, ensuring continuity of care and support other midwives to do so. Develop programmes for antenatal and postnatal education involving Aboriginal Health Practitioners and other stakeholders. Develop effective partnerships with internal and external agencies in the area of maternity care through collaborative partnerships. Collect and feedback on maternal quality improvement data and activities in response to service delivery agreement and key performance indicators. Participate in on-call roster for the Midwifery Group Practice supporting the Tennant Creek Hospital
Key duties and responsibilities

Selection criteriaEssential
* Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
* Demonstrated highly developed clinical knowledge and skills in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery relating to this vacancy, supporting well developed clinical decision-making and problem solving to achieve best practice healthcare outcomes.
* Demonstrate and promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including mentoring students, graduates and less experienced staff across the multidisciplinary team.
* Experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policy, including interpreting established professional precedents and organisational policies and supporting change management.
* Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to influence and convince staff and/or clients, including on sensitive matters requiring tact and diplomacy
* Demonstrates well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that influence health care provision for clients and families.
Desirable
* Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area.

The preferred or recommended applicant will be required to hold a current working with children clearance notice and undergo a criminal history check.
