The role

Our Civil Engineers are responsible for the effective coordination and control of engineering works through activities of technical, engineering, inspection, scheduling, planning, survey, procurement, and quality control based on Martinus Rail standards. The Civil Engineer is responsible for contributing to the protected and successful completion of the project on schedule, within budget and to the specified quality.

Job tasks and responsibilities

1. Technical Advisory:

- Use technical knowledge to provide advice on best practice construction methods.
- Evaluate and recommend construction techniques and methodologies to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
- Stay updated with the latest industry standards and technological advancements to advise on optimal construction practices.

2. Project Coordination:

- Oversees the planning and coordination of activities of designated project including site labor, plant, equipment, and materials:
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure the timely availability and optimal use of labor, machinery, and materials.

3. Performance Management:

- Ensures the construction-related aspects of the project meet or exceed the required performance targets in relation to time, cost, and quality:
- Monitor project progress against established benchmarks.
- Implement corrective actions to address any deviations from the project plan to ensure objectives are met.

4. Resource Planning:

- Use technical knowledge to provide advice on planning, the use of materials, resources, components, or systems within the project:
- Assess project requirements and recommend suitable materials, resources, and systems to achieve project goals.
- Optimize resource utilization to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

5. Technical Support and Problem Resolution:

- Confers with project personnel for technical advice and to resolve problems:
- Provide on-site technical support and guidance to project teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise during the construction process.

6. Risk Management:

- Communicates and escalates risk and opportunity as required to best protect the interest of Martinus Rail:
- Identify potential risks and opportunities related to project execution.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and escalate issues to senior management as necessary.

7. Safety Management:

- Ensures safety management system is adhered to and that there is a positive safety culture throughout the project:
- Enforce compliance with safety regulations and best practices on construction sites.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and proactive risk management among project personnel.

8. Reporting:

- Prepares project reports for management, client, or others as required:
- Compile and present detailed project status reports, including progress, performance metrics, and risk assessments.
- Ensure transparent and effective communication with stakeholders through regular updates and reports.

Skills required:

- Bachelor Degree (Engineering, Construction Management or similar);
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience
- Formal studies in Project Management advantageous;
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite and confidence in using relevant software and devices;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others;
- Ability to establish and steward overall delivery work plans.
