An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Project Advisor-(Youth Justice Advisor) in the North East Victorian Region. The ideal candidate is adept at fostering collaboration, overcoming knowledge barriers, and strategically planning initiatives aligned with team objectives.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Project Advisor-(Youth Justice Advisor) in the North East Victorian Region. The ideal candidate is adept at fostering collaboration, overcoming knowledge barriers, and strategically planning initiatives aligned with team objectives. Proficient in engaging stakeholders for program design, ensuring timely decisions, and translating strategies into actionable projects. Demonstrates expertise in effective stakeholder management, coupled with strong team leadership, including talent development and task allocation for optimal outcomes in the context of youth justice.

The successful candidate will be required to be based from one of the following office locations in NEVR- Shepparton, Wodonga or Glen Waverly.

Key functions of the Senior Project Advisor, Youth Justice Advisor role include:

• establishing and maintaining effective working partnerships with relevant Area, Divisional and Central colleagues to work collaboratively to best support policy implementation to improve and young people in Youth Justice. This will include Education Justice Initiative, Youth Justice Education Pathway Coordinators and Education Early Intervention Officers.

• supporting Area teams in building the capabilities of schools (including Learning Mentors and Designated Teachers), across their areas and region, to tailor education supports to meet the educational needs of children and young people in contact with the youth justice system. Activities include delivering professional learning, running workshops, providing consultation, advocacy and advice. This will include building understanding of trauma and how this presents in the classroom settings and the impacts on children and young people involved with Youth Justice.

• referring complex cases for support and using this as an opportunity to build the capabilities of schools, Area Team members and other stakeholders to overcome complex barriers to engagement in education

• collecting, effectively analysing and implementing findings from data to better direct efforts, and understand the impact of actions (e.g. prioritising support for schools and services with high numbers of children and young people and with complex needs)

• establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Child Protection, Youth Justice Case Managers, Case Managers, Care Managers and carers and supporting/facilitating local partnerships to improve outcomes for young people in youth justice.

Demonstrates expertise in effective stakeholder management, coupled with strong team leadership, including talent development and task allocation for optimal outcomes in the context of youth justice.

Qualifications and Experience

Training or qualifications (or extensive equivalent experience) in Youth Justice or Criminology

Relevant tertiary qualification in Education or other relevant field (such as Psychology or Social Work)

Experience in working across the education sector is desirable for this role, as is the ability to work with schools both at an individual staffing level, and the broader school system level.
