Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position within the Department of Neurology, Gosford and Wyong Hospitals, Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD). This is a maternity relief position up to 52 weeks. If the permanent incumbent requires an early return from maternity leave, this contract of employment will cease with two weeks' notice.
Maternity relief positions can be for a period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of continued employment for up to a further 12 months for maternity leave reduced hours. Therefore, there are no claims to permanency.
Applicants should be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and/or have other specialist recognition as provided for in the Visiting Medical Officer Determination.
Central Coast comprises the twin areas of Gosford and Wyong, positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, with a population expected to grow from approximately 300,000 to 450,000 before 2030. The Local Health District has strong connections with Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Newcastle.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Visiting Medical Officer Determination. This position involves obligations to Gosford Hospital under Sessional arrangements and Wyong Hospital under Fee For Service arrangements.

Medical Practitioner registered or able to be registered in Australia, including an unrestricted or 19AB exempted provider number.
Recognised specialist qualifications, Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Neurology, and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.
Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Neurology.
Ability to work constructively and effectively in a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Willingness and ability to lead and supervise medical and surgical trainees, residents, and medical students; previous experience in teaching management of deteriorating patients is advantageous.
Interest in quality improvement methodologies.

The position requires participation in the general Neurology on-call roster and follow-up of patients after discharge as needed.
