This candidate will also provide support to students in their area(s) of academic and behavioral needs while supporting the general curriculum.
The candidate will be responsible for IEP development, progress reports, and coordinating services for their students.QUALIFICATIONS:Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education certificationCPI training preferredCANDIDATES SHOULD ALSO POSSESS:Experience in administering assessments, documenting student observations, evaluative report writing, academic and behavior progress monitoringAbility to provide support to general education teachers regarding strategies, accommodations and modifications utilized within the classroomAbility to articulate Special Education Rules and Regulations and how it relates to the educational environmentEffective communication skills with parents, teachers, and administratorsAble to professionally facilitate IEP meetings as well as other team meetingsExperience in writing standards-based IEPsAbility to use differentiated instruction with middle school studentsKnowledge and ability to use technology in the classroom, including the integration for student use of technologyDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Instructs individuals and groups in special education skill areasPlans curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methodsEvaluates student progress based on papers submitted, test scores and observationMonitors students' progress in and outside special ed roomMaintains physical environment of the classroomMaintains contact with parents of studentsEvaluates student progress based on work output and observation, determines goals, objectives, and directionsPrepares report cards, educational records, IEP forms, classroom observation records, and other formsPerform other duties as assignedRATE OF PAY: Per the Master AgreementPHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
