Base pay range

A$95,782.00/yr - A$114,938.00/yr

We are seeking passionate and skilled people to join the Land Management North directorate within the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH). You will join a dedicated team that plays a crucial role in managing and administering Western Australia's (WA) Crown land and Aboriginal Lands Trust estates across the Kimberley and Pilbara regions and Indian Ocean Territories. This is a pool recruitment process for permanent full-time, and fixed term full-time opportunities, as Senior State Land Officer (Level 4) or Project Officers (Level 5). Suitable applicants will be placed in a Pool for appointments that may arise within the Department and across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment.

There is one fixed term, full-time opportunity for immediate appointment, with possibility of extension and/or conversion to permanency.

Position 1: Senior State Land Officer, Level 4

The Senior State Land Officer is responsible for the provision of contemporary, responsive and fit for purpose land use management activities in accord with Department and Government priorities.

As the Senior State Land Officer, you will provide effective support, assistance and guidance to the wider Land Use Management Division, ensuring processes relating to the administration of Crown land and the Aboriginal Lands Trust (ALT) estate are carried out in accordance with legislative requirements and within established parameters.

To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate:

* Ability to compile information to guide the development of solutions and deliver key project outcomes in line with stakeholder and Government objectives, and organisational and broader community values.
* Well-developed conceptual, analytical, research and report writing skills, with demonstrated ability to synthesise complex information into clear and easy to understand written recommendations, reports and briefings.
* Well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholder groups.
* Experience operating within a complex legislative environment.
* Demonstrate the behaviours within the leadership context of Personal Leadership as outlined below.

Special requirements for the Senior State Land Officer position:


• Valid and current Western Australian C class motor driver's licence, or equivalent.


• Possession of, or willingness to undertake 4WD Training (if required).

The Project Officer is responsible for the provision of contemporary, responsive and fit for purpose land management and use of land assets. As the Project Officer you will effectively manage and complete land related projects within legislative requirements and in accord with departmental and governmental priorities.

To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate:

* Experience operating within a complex legislative environment.
* Demonstrated ability to apply program governance, including the collation of project plans, milestones, and resource needs.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders and build and maintain productive working relationships to ensure the delivery of complex projects.
* Strong project management skills in delivering complex and multiple projects within agreed parameters and to planned outcomes.
* Understanding of statutory planning, contract/procurement management, land administration and project planning.
* Demonstrate the behaviours within the leadership context of Personal Leadership as outlined below.

The Personal Leadership context is about the work of individuals not yet in traditional leadership positions who make a direct and immediate difference to the agency.

* Strong written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members to achieve desired outcomes.
* Well-developed conceptual, research and report writing skills with demonstrated ability to synthesise complex information into easy-to-understand written reports, recommendations and briefings.
* Capability to understand and apply legislation, policies and guidelines, working within a legislative framework.

Position 2 Level 5, Project Officer

* Experience in the management and delivery of multifaceted projects while working in a complex legislative environment.
