Job description What you'll do

As the Volunteer Manager, you will:

* Manage, coordinate, and facilitate the member induction and Graduation programs, including the New Member Mentor Program.
* Maintain ongoing communication with our volunteers to support their engagement and collaboration, including regular direct communication and producing regular newsletters.
* Support volunteers with welfare or other issues they may have volunteering with St John, including identification of the issue and working with them to resolve or escalate as required
* Manage the roster of volunteers and staff to ensure we meet our obligations and commitments to events and NightCrew patrols
* Work with the Senior Training Manager and Volunteer Training Group to provide a workable and interesting calendar of training for volunteers that keeps them learning and engaged, while meeting our compliance obligations (for certification, etc).
* Review patient care records and duty reports to identify, report on volunteer issues (i.e., welfare, safety or clinical practice) and escalate where required
* Anticipate and respond to requests for uniforms and other personal items (parking vouchers, etc.)
* Drive operational improvement in line with St John Ambulance ACT Strategic Plan and volunteer needs
* Attend first aid duties on an ad hoc basis to support response teams.
* Monitor and manage mandatory volunteer credentials, including WWVP and child safety, as well as clinical credentials such as first aid or CPR qualifications
* Maintain accurate volunteer records, including personal details, availability, hours and qualifications
* Produce management reports on performance, compliance and safety for St John and external stakeholders on a regular basis.
* Represent St John ACT at government, event or national St John meetings as required

* Able to adapt quickly to both anticipated and unexpected changes
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
* Innovative and pragmatic thinking, with a proven ability to develop and implement improvements and new ideas
* Strong IT skills across a range of platforms and systems
* Demonstrates integrity, professionalism and sound judgement in all interactions

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
* Current unrestricted ACT WWVP Card, Driver's Licence and acceptable National Police Check
* Previous experience working as a volunteer or within a volunteer organisation is desirable
* Previous experience working in the not-for-profit sector is desirable
