Student support specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and student-centred Student Support Specialist to join our school leadership team.

This role will contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive student support program that is responsive to the evolving and diverse needs of students.

The successful candidate will operate under the direction of the Principal, who will authorise and support the development and implementation of the program and associated duties.

This position is offered on a temporary, part-time basis until further notice.


About The Role

As a Student Support Specialist, you will provide professional expertise, leadership and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental and lifelong learning outcomes.

* Provide a counselling and referral service to assist students in decision making about critical educational, personal, social, emotional and career development.
* Conduct activities such as student observation and psychoeducational assessment to determine the nature of student learning difficulties, disability, developmental levels or psychological and emotional status.
* Assist schools in the implementation of student protection, gifted and talented education, behaviour support policies and risk management processes.


Your Responsibilities

As the Student Support Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

* Providing ongoing support during the implementation phase of a student's decision.
* Making recommendations for educational adjustments and interventions based on student assessments.
* Developing individualised student plans, including Educational Support Plans.


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

* A relevant qualification in guidance, counselling or a related field.
* Experience working with students in a similar capacity.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
