Full‐time, maximum‐term until 30 June 2028 offering 76 hours per fortnight based out of our Red Hill location.
This is an identified position in line with UnitingCare's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Workforce Strategy which aims to increase the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees. Candidates must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
The role requires the application of lived experience, cultural knowledge, and community‐informed approaches to reduce barriers to housing, strengthen client self‐determination, and improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disability who are experiencing, or at risk of, housing instability.
Key Responsibilities
* Apply cultural knowledge, lived experience and community‐informed practice to deliver housing and tenancy support that is culturally safe, respectful and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients with disability.
* Build and maintain trust with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients by recognising the impacts of intergenerational disadvantage, systemic barriers, and previous experiences with housing and service systems.
* Support clients to exercise choice, voice and self‐determination in housing decisions, recognising family, kinship and community considerations where relevant.
* Provide culturally informed advocacy with housing providers, landlords and service systems to reduce barriers and improve access to appropriate housing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
* Contribute cultural insight to service planning, case discussions and continuous improvement activities, while operating within role scope and without assuming sole responsibility for organisational cultural capability.
Requirements
* Minimum Cert IV in Human Services, Disability or Diploma in a related field with at least 2 years' experience.
* Evidence of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (required).
* Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
* Current Driver's Licence.
* NDIS Worker Screening Check.
