Based on Kaurna Yerta in Adelaide, Tandanyais a beacon for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, knowledge, and storytelling. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a proudly First Nations organisation that has national impact, deep cultural roots, and a bold vision for the future.
About the Role:
You will provide strategic, operational, and cultural leadership. You’ll work closely with the Board and communities to deliver on Tandanya’s Strategic Plan, ensuring financial and organisational sustainability, expanding national partnerships, and strengthening cultural programming.
This is a role for a leader who understands that culture and community must sit at the heart of decision-making. Someone who can walk respectfully with Elders, advocate with confidence to government and sector partners, and lead an operationally complex organisation through transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the implementation of Tandanya’s Strategic Plan across all five strategic pillars
* Strengthen organisational sustainability through sound governance and financial stewardship
* Collaborate with Elders and cultural leaders to ensure cultural integrity is embedded across all programs and activities
* Build strategic partnerships with government, community, donors, and cultural institutions
* Champion self-determination, workforce development, and leadership within the First Nations cultural sector
About You:
You are an experienced and collaborative leader with a deep commitment to First Nations culture, community, and values. You bring operational acumen, strategic thinking, and cultural humility, and you are ready to guide Tandanya into its next era.
Essential Attributes:
* Experience in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and financial management
* Proven senior leadership experience within cultural, community, or not-for-profit sectors
* A values-based leadership style that prioritises inclusion, accountability, and cultural safety
* Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, governance, and community engagement
Desirable Attributes:
* Experience with cultural facilities, visual arts, or multidisciplinary arts programming
* Experience working with Aboriginal boards, artists, or communities
