We are currently seeking an experienced 2IC Free Range Feedlot Manager to join our team located in Mt Gambier, Victoria. This position will involve managing farm activities, livestock, and pasture management while ensuring high standards of animal welfare, machinery upkeep, and operational efficiency. You will play a critical role in monitoring and reporting on farm operations while working closely with the farm manager.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
* Work closely with the Feedlot Manager to support overall farm operations and performance.
* Supervise and coordinate daily activities of stock hands.
* Monitor livestock health and welfare, ensuring early identification of any issues.
* Administer and manage animal treatments in line with protocols and compliance requirements.
* Oversee cattle inductions, including receiving, processing, and settling livestock.
* Direct and coordinate livestock movements across feedlot and grazing areas.
* Ensure safe and low-stress stock handling practices at all times.
* Maintain accurate records of treatments, movements, and livestock data.
* Assist with feedlot operations including feeding, yard maintenance, and general farm duties.
* Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards and farm procedures.
* Support staff training and promote a positive and productive team environment.
* Step into the Manager role when required, ensuring continuity of operations.
Skills & Experiences
* Proven experience in feedlot, livestock, or mixed farming operations (cattle and sheep)
* Demonstrated ability to lead or supervise a small team
* Strong knowledge of animal health, welfare, and livestock handling practices
* Experience in administering animal treatments and identifying health issues
* Ability to manage livestock movements and yard operations effectively
* Current driver's licence (essential) with strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently, make decisions, and communicate effectively
