Primary objective
To provide coordination of daily purchasing of contracted and non-contracted items across the Allied Health Group in accordance
with delegated authority and approved supply contracts. This position provides ongoing stock management and purchasing advice
to the Executive Manager of Food Services and Allied Health group and participates in all procurement practices.
Context statement
The ASH Food service Department adheres to a HACCP (Hazard Analytical Critical Control Point) managed food safety plan along
with Therapeutic diet guidelines for patients in an Acute Care setting. This service provides meals to ASH inpatients, ASH Kiosk,
MOW community patients and off-site services to Renal Dialysis units and works closely with the Dietetics Department and Food
Service Dietitian.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage purchasing of goods and services through electronic stock and invoice management systems including Health
Procurement system ensuring financial accuracy.
2. Oversight of procurement and contract management processes including tenders and contract management.
3. Supervise the day-to-day activity of the storeman ensuring that all stock related matters are attended to in a timely manner in
accordance with HACCP food safe practices.
4. Ensure stock lines are stored in accordance with relevant Australian and Therapeutic Goods Administration standards.
5. Ensure that all processes and procedures of the Inventory storage areas are within Workplace Health and Safety (WH and S)
guidelines and Warehousing standards and relevant guidelines.
6. Maintain documentation in relation to receiving, storage and transportation of food products including service records of the
food service equipment for audit/tracking purposes as per HACCP Food Safety practices.
7. Maintain professional relationships with key user internal and external stakeholders through clear communication.
8. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary teamwork practices and role modelling behaviour.
9. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken
in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in a commercial stock management environment (HACCP) responsible for all aspects including
procurement, stock control, distribution and contract management.
2. Demonstrated physical ability to undertake manual tasks including forklift operation (Licence required) in a safe manner.
3. High level communication skills with the ability to accurately analyse and clearly communicate a range of issues.
4. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
5. Highly developed interpersonal skills with an emphasis on teamwork.
6. Ability to effectively participate in change management processes.
7. High level administrations skills including the use of stock management software and MS Office suite including Outlook.
Desirable
1. Worked at position level within an Acute Care setting.
