About the Opportunity
Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation is looking for a full-time Workshop Supervisor based in Maningrida, NT.
Reporting to the Manager – Construction & Commercial Trade Services, you'll oversee day-to-day workshop operations across both Light Vehicle (LV) and Heavy Vehicle (HV) services, with a stronger focus on the LV side. You'll lead a small team, mentor apprentices, and ensure that quality repairs and maintenance services are delivered to support BAC's essential community operations.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Planning and overseeing workshop operations across HV and LV repairs
* Supervising and mentoring mechanics, apprentices, and tyre fitters
* Managing Preventative Maintenance Schedules (PMS) and delegating tasks
* Ensuring high standards of safety, documentation, and customer service
* Managing inventory and spare parts, including the retail outlet and recycling yard
* Providing hands-on technical support and guidance when needed
* Fostering teamwork in a cross-cultural environment and supporting local upskilling
* Contributing to a strong safety culture and continuous improvement
About You
We're looking for skilled Mechanics Leaders with experience in light vehicles and heavy vehicles.
To qualify, you'll need:
* Trade qualifications in Light Vehicle and/or Heavy Vehicle Mechanics
* A valid Driver's Licence
* Experience in inventory and parts management
* At least 5 years' experience supervising workshop operations
* Strong technical knowledge, especially in LV servicing and repairs
* A willingness to work in a remote Aboriginal community setting
* WHS awareness and a high standard of documentation and communication
Additionally, we value candidates who have:
* Previous experience in a community development or not-for-profit organisation
* Diesel fitter, air-conditioning, or HR/MR licences
* Experience in remote/Indigenous settings
* National Police Clearance with no criminal convictions
* NT Roadworthy certification capability (advantageous)
