Launch are seeking experienced and motivated Mainframe Software Developers to join our growing team. This role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about mainframe technologies and eager to contribute to large-scale, mission-critical systems. $150,000 inclusive of super 3 days in the office Must be an Australia Citizen and able to obtain clearance Melbourne, Canberra or Brisbane Location Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL-based applications in a z/OS mainframe environment. Write and optimise complex SQL queries for DB2 for z/OS. Integrate COBOL applications with DB2 databases and IBM MQ messaging systems. Manage user access and system security using RACF. Participate in code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including testers, analysts, and DevOps engineers. Contribute to system documentation and knowledge sharing. Support continuous improvement initiatives and modernisation efforts using Micro Focus tools. Required Technical Skills Candidates must have hands-on experience with the following technologies: Core Mainframe Technologies (Mandatory) COBOL (e.g., IBM COBOL for z/OS) DB2 for z/OS SQL query writing and optimisation Data modelling and database design Use of DB2 utilities (e.g., LOAD, UNLOAD, REORG) COBOL-DB2 integration RACF User profile management Access control and security enforcement IBM MQ Message queue design and integration Queue/topic management z/OS Environment JCL (Job Control Language) TSO/ISPF VSAM file handling Desirable Micro Focus Enterprise Developer / Analyzer Experience in mainframe application modernisation Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices Security Clearance Requirements Baseline Security Clearance is required for all development roles from Day 1 Candidates must be Australian citizens and eligible to work onsite in Australia.
