2027 rural community residency program

Derby
WA Country Health Service
Posted: 13 June
Offer description

The Community Residency Program (CRP) is a term‐long rural secondment available to Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) employed at Fiona Stanley Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital, and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

The CRP provides RMOs with a unique opportunity to gain hands‐on experience across both hospital and community settings. During the placement, RMOs spend a minimum of 20% of their time in community‐based care, with the remainder of the term based within hospital services. This structure supports the development of clinical independence and broadens exposure to medicine beyond the hospital setting.

Designed for junior doctors at PGY2 and above, the program is well suited to those preparing for General Practice training, exploring different vocational pathways, or building confidence in managing patients across diverse healthcare settings.

RMOs will remain contracted and salaried by their Primary Employing Health Service (PEHS) and will be released to WACHS on secondment for the duration of one term. Travel and accommodation will be provided by WACHS.

CRP locations include:

* Esperance
* Kununurra
* Karratha
* Geraldton
* Kalgoorlie
* Narrogin
* Derby

Locations are subject to change.
