Senior Claims Specialist - High Value and Complex Claims We're seeking a Senior Claims Specialist for a 12-month contract to manage a portfolio of high-value and complex Specialty claims, including professional indemnity, injury, and property liability.
You'll provide strategic advice, manage litigation, and collaborate with internal legal teams and external counsel.
This role is pivotal in ensuring claims are resolved efficiently and fairly, while supporting the technical development of the broader team.
Responsibilities Lead complex liability and professional indemnity claims with strategic impactCollaborate with legal teams, panel firms, and internal stakeholdersDrive resolution of high-value claims and contribute to technical excellenceManage end-to-end claims across class actions, cluster claims, and high-value exposuresProvide strategic advice on policy interpretation, litigation, and claim resolutionCollaborate with internal legal teams, panel firms, and counsel to manage legal complexitiesAttend mediations, settlement conferences, and court proceedings as requiredSupport technical oversight and mentoring within the Specialty claims teamDevelop governance frameworks and reporting for emerging risks and financial impactsPromote alignment of claims strategies across internal stakeholdersContribute to process improvements and cost reduction initiativesOperate within delegated authority and promote a positive risk culture Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in law, business, or insurance (mandatory)Industry qualifications such as Diploma in Financial Services (mandatory)5-10 years' experience managing complex liability or professional indemnity claimsLitigation experience, including briefing panel firms or direct involvement (mandatory)Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilitiesExperience mentoring and developing team membersSound knowledge of relevant legislation and claims systems What You'll Enjoy A range of flexible working and leave options, including 20 weeks paid parental leave, 4 weeks paid secondary carer parental leave and unlimited paid emergency response leaveDiscounts and offers on a range of retail favourite stores as well as insurance productsGive back to our communities with payroll giving, donation matching and paid volunteer leaveInvest in your brighter future with ongoing study support and career development programs; andPrioritise your work/life balance with our robust employee assistance program and dedicated employee councilAt Suncorp, we believe our strength lies in the diversity, talent, and passion of our people.
