Position Overview

Full‐time, fixed‐term (until 30 June 2027) at Swinburne University of Technology's Hawthorn campus. Academic Level A salary plus 17 % superannuation and staff benefits.

About the Role

Research Associate for the ARC Research Hub for Future Digital Manufacturing. Your work will develop software solutions that leverage Context Awareness, the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and advanced data‐integration technologies to improve manufacturing productivity and decision‐making.

Key Responsibilities

* Conduct research, design, development and evaluation of advanced software‐based solutions.
* Deliver project milestones and outcomes for the Sutton Tools collaboration.
* Design and implement large‐scale distributed and context‐aware systems.
* Integrate data from multiple heterogeneous sources and platforms.
* Work closely with industry partners to understand business challenges and translate them into technical solutions.
* Contribute to future research and industry funding proposals.
* Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams of researchers, engineers and industry experts.

About You

* Strong programming skills in Python, Java, C/C++, .NET, JavaScript/React, R, Ruby, Perl or Bash.
* Experience in software system design and development of robust, scalable solutions.
* Experience developing distributed, context‐aware or data‐integration systems.
* Knowledge of IoT and AI technologies, including machine learning and large language models.
* Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and teamwork skills.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently.

Desirable

* Experience with manufacturing or industrial systems.
* Experience in manufacturing data analytics.

Qualifications

A master's degree, or a bachelor's degree with honours and at least three years of relevant research experience.
