Your new role
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and optimising enterprise‑grade data solutions across the Microsoft Azure Data Platform. You'll work hands‑on with PySpark, Synapse, Fabric, and Power BI to deliver governed, scalable data models and analytics products. You will collaborate closely with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders while mentoring other engineers and championing best practices.
What you'll need to succeed
* 5+ years' experience in analytics or data‑warehousing environments
* Deep expertise in data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and end‑to‑end BI solutions using Power BI, SQL, and DAX
* Advanced skills in PySpark and SQL, with hands‑on experience in Synapse and Fabric (Spark + Pipelines)
* Strong understanding of lakehouse architectures, data platform frameworks, and data mesh principles
* Experience with Azure DevOps, including branching strategies and CI/CD pipelines
* Proven ability to deliver data solutions at scale, including large‑volume datasets
* Experience applying AI/LLMs to data engineering (nice to have)
Key Responsibilities
* Design and build scalable data models — develop well‑structured facts, dimensions, and semantic layers using PySpark, Synapse, Fabric Lakehouse/Warehouse, and Power BI, ensuring alignment with business and analytical requirements.
* Develop ingestion and transformation pipelines — design and implement end‑to‑end ingestion frameworks in Synapse Pipelines and Data Factory to source data from APIs, databases, and files. Build efficient ELT frameworks in Synapse and Fabric to integrate and transform large, complex datasets.
* Design and deliver BI and analytics solutions — create Power BI models and reports that enable trusted analytics and actionable insights.
* Optimise and govern — ensure high performance, cost efficiency, and data quality across Spark, SQL, and Fabric workloads through effective design and governance practices.
* Collaborate and lead — partner with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to design end‑to‑end data products, while mentoring engineers and promoting best practices in data design and delivery.
