Leader WHS Compliance

About the role

The Leader WHS Compliance delivers specialist guidance and technical support on compliance and safety management across the department's schools and workplaces. The role is responsible for collaborating with schools and key stakeholders to foster a positive workplace safety culture that supports effective WHS program implementation, ensures legislative compliance, and drives continuous strategic improvement. The responsibilities include:

* Providing advice on compliance and safety programs to ensure legislative compliance and best practice.
* Supporting the development and delivery of compliance and strategic WHS governance projects and programs.
* Building stakeholder relationships to support effective delivery of safety governance and compliance initiatives.
* Analysing data and preparing reports to inform decision-making and improvement.
* Maintaining regulatory and safety records.
* Developing and delivering WHS training and initiatives for staff.

About you -

* Ability to manage multiple competing demands and deadlines within a high-volume work environment.
* Ability to plan and implement WHS operational and strategic compliance initiatives.
* Substantial experience in preparing and delivering written correspondence, including WHS correspondence and reports.
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Work, Health and Safety or a related field and/or equivalent work history and experience
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

Renewal is not required after the WWCC expires, as long as you remain in a non–child-related role. Employer obligations only apply while the WWCC is valid.
