Position Type: Permanent Part-Time (20 hours/week, Mon–Fri between 8:30–15:30)
About Us
Defence Holidays Northern Queensland (DHNQ) is a not-for-profit travel agency supporting current and former members of the Australian Defence Force and their families. Based at Lavarack Barracks in Townsville, our mission is to make holidays more affordable for those who serve, through exclusive discounts, personalised travel support, and access to our own resort properties in Cairns and Magnetic Island.
As we expand our services across Australia and internationally, we're looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic team member to join our small, purpose-driven organisation.
About the Role
We're seeking a motivated and customer-focused individual to join us in a Permanent Part-Time capacity. This role involves a wide variety of tasks including travel bookings, general office duties, and customer service. The successful applicant will also support the Office Manager and assist with the day-to-day operations of the travel agency.
There is potential for this role to grow into a full-time position as the business expands.
Key Selection Criteria
• Cert III in Travel or equivalent experience (preferred)
• Strong customer service skills and a commitment to quality
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
• Confidence using cloud-based systems and general computer literacy
• Xero experience (preferred)
• Willingness to learn and use online reservation platforms
• Ability to perform general office duties (including cleaning)
• Familiarity with North Queensland (preferred)
• Creative and solutions-focused mindset
• Able to work unsupervised and be self-motivated
• Flexibility to support the Office Manager, including occasional travel, evening, and weekend work
