About the job

Company Description

Climate Capital is a renewable energy developer and asset manager committed to decarbonising the grid and supporting Australian businesses. We do this by designing, building, owning and operating renewable energy solutions - primarily solar and BESS - as behind-the-meter and grid-connected assets under long-term electricity supply agreements with C&I companies.

Based in Hobart, Tasmania, Climate Capital's operating and pipeline projects span across the NEM and SWIS. Backed by our new investment partner Gaw Capital, we now need to grow our amazing team to support a rapid increase in project deployment.

Role Description

The Project Engineer supports the design, development, delivery, and operation of Climate Capital's renewable energy projects. The role provides technical, analytical, and coordination support across the full project lifecycle — from early-stage feasibility through to construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations. Working closely with the Asset Manager, the Project Engineer is responsible for executing project tasks, coordinating stakeholders, and maintaining project documentation, schedules, and cost tracking to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and in line with Climate Capital's commercial objectives.

This is a full-time role as a Project Engineer based in Hobart, Tasmania.

Qualifications

* Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Renewable Energy, Mechatronic, Civil, or related discipline) or equivalent technical qualification
* Experience in renewable energy project development, delivery, or operations preferred; graduate candidates with relevant internship or placement experience considered
* Understanding of solar PV systems, grid connection processes, and energy yield modelling concepts
* Familiarity with energy yield modelling tools (i.e. PVSyst) an advantage
* Experience with project scheduling tools and cost tracking
* Exposure to contractor management and procurement administration
* Awareness of Australian electricity market frameworks (NEM / WEM) and NSP processes advantageous
* Strong analytical and data management skills; proficient in Microsoft Excel and 365 suite

Key Competencies

* Technical aptitude — ability to understand and apply engineering and energy concepts across project tasks
* Organised and detail-oriented — manages multiple workstreams, deadlines, and documentation with accuracy
* Communication — clear and professional in written and verbal communication with internal teams and external stakeholders
* Collaborative — works effectively as part of a small, cross-functional team with shared accountability
* Initiative — proactive in progressing tasks, flagging issues, and following through on commitments
* Adaptable — comfortable operating across development, delivery, and operations in a dynamic, growing business
* Analytical — able to compile, interpret, and communicate technical and financial data clearly
