Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance Division is seeking a senior leader who will lead the statewide design, negotiation and oversight of major service agreements that drive the performance, sustainability and quality of Queensland's public health system.
The role
The Senior Director, Service Agreement Management, provides strategic leadership in the design, negotiation and oversight of service agreements across Queensland's health system. This role is responsible for guiding statewide healthcare purchasing decisions, shaping performance expectations, and overseeing the allocation and governance of more than $18B in annual funding to the state's 16 Hospital and Health Services and Mater Misericordiae Limited.
As a senior system steward, you will ensure service agreements reflect government priorities, contemporary health service models and long‑term sustainability. You will lead performance management partnerships, strengthen accountability frameworks, and support HHSs to deliver safe, high‑quality and equitable care. The role also contributes to the strategic direction of the Contracting and Performance Management Branch, fostering high performance, capability growth and a culture aligned to Queensland Health values. Occasional travel may be required.
The successful person
You are an experienced and trusted senior leader with deep expertise in healthcare purchasing, funding and performance management. You bring a strong record of negotiating complex service agreements, evaluating system performance, and making informed, strategic decisions in high‑stakes environments.
You excel at building productive relationships with senior stakeholders, navigating sensitive issues with diplomacy, and providing clear, evidence‑based advice to influence system‑wide outcomes. Your leadership style is values‑driven, collaborative and outcomes‑focused, enabling you to motivate teams, drive accountability, and lead improvement across a complex and dynamic health system.
You demonstrate political awareness, sound judgement and an ability to operate confidently at the executive level, contributing meaningfully to the stewardship and strategic direction of Queensland Health.
