Position Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Part-Time Editorial Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a third or fourth-year university student pursuing a degree in journalism or a related field, offering a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in magazine publishing. The successful candidate will support our editorial team in various capacities; contributing to the creation and dissemination of high-quality arts and culture content. As this is an entry-level position, we will provide ample training on all key responsibilities listed below.
This role is based in our Edinburgh office and requires in-office work each week.
Key Responsibilities:
Source and curate compelling images.
Assist in uploading articles, images, and multimedia content to our website using our CMS.
Write timely and engaging news pieces for our online platform, covering current arts and culture events.
Aid in fact-checking, proofreading, and editing content to maintain accuracy and consistency.
Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling copy for social media posts, promoting our content and engaging with our audience.
Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a journalism or related degree programme at a university.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
A passion for arts and culture, particularly within Scotland.
Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Familiarity with content management systems and basic image editing software is a plus but not required.
Prior experience in a similar role or with a student publication is a plus but not required.
