We are seeking a passionate and compassionate Liaison Officer to support workers recruited through the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility Scheme (PALMS) across a range of industries and host employers.
This is a rewarding, people-focused role where you'll provide pastoral care, practical support, and advocacy to ensure workers feel safe, supported, and connected while living and working in Australia.
About the Role
As a Liaison Officer, you'll be the key point of contact for PALMS workers and play an important role in supporting their wellbeing both inside and outside the workplace.
This is a full-time role, however flexibility is essential as some duties and worker support may occur outside standard business hours.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop strong and trusted relationships with PALMS workers
* Provide pastoral care and practical support including:
o Medical appointments and wellbeing support
o Accommodation and transport assistance
o Workplace and community advocacy
o Family and community connection support
* Assist with worker arrivals, inductions, transfers, and departures
* Conduct regular worker check-ins and accommodation inspections
* Respond to urgent worker matters and after-hours situations where required
* Support workers to settle into the local community and workplace
* Liaise with internal teams, host employers, accommodation providers, and external services
* Promote and support workplace health and safety practices
* Facilitate safety discussions and maintain required documentation
What We're Looking For
You are someone who:
* Has a genuine passion for helping and supporting people
* Builds rapport easily with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
* Is calm under pressure and able to navigate sensitive situations professionally
* Can work independently while also being part of a wider team
* Has strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities or in a support-based role will be highly regarded.
* Current National Police Check
* Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
* Current Driver's Licence
* Ability to work flexibly, including occasional after-hours support
