Overview
Elective Surgery Access Nurse L6) – Royal Hobart Hospital, South Region, Tasmania. Part-time position (48 hours per fortnight) with a day worker schedule. Applications close Sunday 21 September, :55 PM AEST.
Exciting opportunity to join the Department of Health in Tasmania as part of the Surgical & Endoscopy Access Unit, which facilitates patient progression from surgical outpatient clinics to elective surgical and endoscopy waiting lists and coordinates with Perioperative Services.
Responsibilities
* Strengthen health outcomes by delivering safe, high-quality nursing care in partnership with patients, families and other health professionals.
* Coordinate the patient elective surgery and endoscopy care pathway in collaboration with designated specialty units.
* Follow policy, protocols and procedures developed and authorised by the Department of Health and the Department of Anaesthesia & Perioperative Services.
* Ensure patients arrive on the day of their procedure with complete documentation and an established plan of care.
* Assist in the active, safe and consistent management of elective surgery and endoscopy waiting lists in alignment with the Planned Surgery Access Policy and Operational Standards.
Requirements
* High level knowledge and experience in acute surgical nursing; understanding of pre-admission, admission, discharge and waiting list management principles.
* Advanced communication skills to effectively communicate, negotiate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, diverse stakeholders, patients and families; ability to address conflict and resolve disputes.
* Patient-focused approach delivering prompt, efficient, and personalised service while meeting high-quality outputs.
Qualifications and Recruitment Details
* Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
* Desirable: relevant postgraduate qualifications (or progression towards them).
* Salary: $100,177 to $106,112 pro rata per annum; plus 11.5% superannuation. Grade 4 progression may apply for higher salary within the range.
* Salary packaging and allowances may be available (e.g., Post Graduate Allowance up to 10% based on qualification type).
