The Role

You will assist the Nutrition and Dietetics Advisor/Department Head in the operational direction, leadership and management of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department within the Prince of Wales and Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospitals (POWH/SSEH). Your high level of clinical expertise will support the dietetics workforce to deliver high quality nutrition care to diverse patients and clients across the hospital's services. This includes day‑to‑day coordination of clinical service delivery; planning, monitoring and evaluation of services; clinical supervision and support of staff; and development and implementation of innovative service models and initiatives.
Your role has responsibilities in the coordination of all the department's resources (human, financial and physical) in consultation with the Nutrition and Dietetics Advisor/Department Head.
This position reports operationally and professionally to the Nutrition and Dietetics Advisor/Department Head.
Where You'll be Working
Prince of Wales Hospital is a quaternary referral and teaching hospital – a great place to develop your career. The department team comprises nineteen dedicated dietitians, seven dietitian assistants, a dietitian assistant supervisor and an administrative officer. The team is committed to supporting each other to ensure excellent nutrition care to patients and clients. The hospital is part of a large, friendly academic campus at Randwick in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, with recent redevelopment and close proximity to light rail and bus stops.
Selection Criteria
* Recognised qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics that provides eligibility for full membership of Dietitians Australia and commitment to ongoing professional development.
* Evidence of extensive clinical and management experience as a practising dietitian.
* Proven ability to provide high level guidance, leadership and management of nutrition and dietetics services in a complex health setting.
* High‑level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* Understanding of and commitment to quality improvement processes and evidence‑based practice within nutrition and dietetics.
* Ability to provide leadership and direction with workforce planning and in assisting with flexible utilisation of resources to enhance service delivery.
* Ability to provide high level advice, consultation and education to enhance service delivery, including experience in developing programmes, policies and procedures for service improvement.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritise work to manage competing demands and work autonomously when appropriate.
